Morpheous Geodesy Plus

The Geodesy is a tiny black plastic box with a row of very bright LEDs running along the top edge, about the size of a packet of cigarettes that you attach via its `Power Interface Clip' to your bike. (every install I've seen has the unit mounted underneath the fairing screen so that it's just above your clocks and well within your line of sight)

But what is it? In the most basic terms it's just a simple GPS (Global Positioning System) box, but what's clever about this item is that it also contains a very large list of known fixed speeding camera sites and the posted speed limit, this enables the Geodesy to know where you are and if you're near a camera site. If your travelling over the speed limit is warns you via the set of lights across the top and emits a loud beep. If you're travelling below the speed limit the Geodesy just displays a simple warning light.

To keep up to date with all the latest camera sites or changes in speed limits the Geodesy comes with a small base station (known as the Desktop Modem Interface) that attaches to your telephone line. (no computer required, the unit is entirely self contained) This unit dials up and connects to the Morpheous head office and downloads the latest updates in to your Geodesy. The process is very simple to do, simply plug in and go and this service is free for the first 12 months and after that you pay £60 a year subscription.

Another nice feature is if you come across a camera site in the process of being built, using the button mounted in the unit you can record your GPS location and when you synchronise your unit with Morpheous it will send the information to them for confirmation, if your data is used you get a £50 bonus.

In use the Geodesy is very simple to use, you plug it into your bike and go, if you're near a camera site it will tell you, when you get where you are going you can take the unit off the bike to prevent anyone from `borrowing' it and put it in your pocket, when you get home and next go out in your car/lorry/speed boat??? You can just as easily fit it in and go.

This is a great product, OK it's over £200 but remember the average speeding fine is £60 plus 3 points and that's not including the fine you could get with a ban, or the additional cost of your insurance. Another point to note is the unit is 100% legal as it uses GPS to locate the camera sites and does not interfere with the radar/laser units like a some scramblers

Bottom line: Do we recommend it? YES (to be honest £250 almost seems too cheap)
